What is the Maximum Power: less then 13 Watt – can you be more specific – Sellers adwertise it less then 13 – but could be anywere 1 watt to 13 Watt – many buyers need more pricise specification.

I’m missing one VERY important information: lumen! Could you please tell us how much this lamp is able to produce?
    Thank you in advance!

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi Nobody, check the specifications on our product page: http://www.aputure.com/en/product/amaran_led_video_light.php

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog nobody

Thank you, but the specifications don’t tell how much lumen this lamp has. It is of utmost importance for me, if I want to buy a lamp, to know how much light it produces. Given that it has 18W full power I would expect at least 960 lumen, but nowadays, there are also quite a few (but usually more expensive) LEDs with more than 100 lm/w, so it could also be also around 2000 lumen (although I don’t expect it to be that bright). I would be grateful if you could add that important piece of information to your specifications.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Ni Nobody, I don’t have these specifications right now, but I will ask the engineers. As for total level of brightness, you may want to watch this video that we recently produced, comparing Amaran to other LED lights: http://www.aputure.com/blog/2011/09/21/amaran-led-matrix-lighting-video/

HI Nobody, I’ve got the info you requested: Lumen for AL-126, AL-160 and AL-198 is 673 lux, 1245 lux, 1325 lux, respectively. Cheers…

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog gadencourt

    Hi

I just received a AL 160 and I cannot fix on it my Sony batteries NP-F960. What’s wrong ? It’s the same family of NP-F550 so it should work.

    regards

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi Gadencourt. We have not tested this specific battery, but I will ask the engineers and get back to you.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog gadencourt

    Hi

It should work as it is the same form factor family you described as compatible (Sony serie L form factor) the only difference is the power capacity of this battery. Otherwise it’s the same. So it seems that your ad is not realistic.

I’ll wait for your answer from your engineers.

    regards

    Hi Aputure,

I also want to know Nobody’s question: How many lumens does it have?
You’ve mixed um lumens with lux. The lux (symbol: lx) is the SI derived unit of illuminance or illumination. It is equal to one lumen per square metre, and depends on how distant the light is to the subject.

Lumens measure “luminous flux”. This is a measure of the total number of packets of light produced by a light source. This is the “quantity” of light emitted by the light source.

So, once again, how many lumens does it have?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Ole Christian Torkildsen

I recently bought the Amaran AL 198 for use in my macro photography, and I am really satisfied. Now I finally can backlight my bugs in easy way with complete control when it comes to brightness. I also think it is a an easier way of giving my subject an correct fill in light compare to when I am using flashes, especially when it is used together with its diffusing filter. I am going to by two more lamps. Thanks for developing such good product.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hello Ole, glad to hear that you are happy with the product! If you are on Flickr, please share some of your photos in our group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/aputure/) so that we can see what you’re up to. I’d love to see your shots!

And what about the battery Sony NP-FM500H – is it equivalent for use with Amaran LED Light?

Because I have Sony A57 and have 2 batteries, Can I use one with Amaran?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Yes Drotik, this one works with Amaran, but it may be loose and drop to the floor, so you’d have to secure it with tape or something similar.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hello Amir, we don’t think this LED would be strong enough for your application, but a new, upcoming LED of ours (with more bulbs) should be strong enough, especially when stacked together. Stay tuned!

will a Sony NP-FV50 battery work as well?

  • http://www.montaz.gr montaz.gr

Where i can find them in Greece?
    is there a local distributor?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Andreas N

answering my own question: yes, it’s possible to use an NP-FV50 with this LED light. Yesterday, I’ve received my light and was able to use it with the Sony battery I already had. It’s a snug fit and a bit hard to get in and out but I suspect this would also be true for the other battery types. And I rather have it secured in place instead of a too loose fit.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hello Montaz, yes we have a dealer in Greece. Please check your email for info.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Triple A Entertainment

    Hello A-Team,
I just bought the al-126, and I asked if AA rechargeable batteries can be able to power the lights, and according to the sales person, he advised me to buy them. However, the lights are not as powerful as expected, as I can only get my subjects when i get so close to them. Also, the batteries could not even power the lights for 1h30 before it diminished.
Please I work most times indoors with near absolute darkness, what do you advice me to do as i made arrangements with the retailer for a return if the product does not give me the required lightning solution.
    Urgency Please

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

They are not really substitutes for proper studio lights, but work well on-camera at short distances. Perhaps you could try one of our larger lights such as AL-198, or buying multiple lights and stacking them together. You can stack up to 4 together safely. We also have a new one coming out soon that is dual-powered and definitely stronger. Stay tuned…

    Hi Miguel,
    1. Sorry, we do not have barndoor for 528S. Actually we have tested other brand light with barndoor in the market, we found facula, the light is not uniform, so we think the barndoor is unuseful.
    2. Is it 4400mAh?
    Best regards
    Elva

  • Miguel Vassy

where could I find the facula barndoor?
    thanks

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Miguel,
There is no barndoor for 528S in the market. Because every light size is different.
If you want to try, you would find from ebay.
    Best regards
    Elva

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Miguel,
With a full charged battery, our Amaran 528S can work at least 3 hours.
    Best regards
    Elva

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    You are the lucky one.
It’s not normal you use these two kinds of batteries together. You AA batteries are run off and your np-f750 is shorted.

You’d better buy new AA batteries if you want to use AA battery. And please first charge for your np-f750 if you use it for our light.

Also, for your safety, I suggest you do not use them at the same time in the future.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Elias,
It is impossible that the LED failed to work if you changed to use 6 new AA batteries or a charged np-f 750 battery.
Try to use it with new AA ones or charged np-f 750 battery.

If np-f 750 battery still fails, there might be possible the electric circuit to back plate of our AL-198 is burnt out because of your use error.
In this situation, I suggest you to test whether the possible is or not by yourself or your friend who know how to test with multimeter and LED adapter.
If it really is because of burnt electric circuit, repair it.
If not, tell me your details.
PS if you have other question, you would send email to cs@aputure.com.

    Best regards
    Elva

You can power the AL-528W with the battery bank on our light panel and you have to power these two np-f 750 batteries at the same time.
Also, you can power np-f 750 battery with your own matched battery bank.

Thanks Job, you are right. The Sony hotshoe size is different with other brand camera.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Chandra,

Sorry for late reply. We got to know some details about electronic use in your country. As my research, the electronic use in your country is not stable sometimes.
You’d better full charge your battery and use battery more to supply our AL-528S.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Egilano,
If you have welding skills, you can buy circuit board separately. But we worry about it is dangerous for you if you are not very good at it. Besides, you need to wait for a period once you decide buy them separately, because we need time to arrange and produce these only for you. Thanks!
    Sincerely,
    The A Team
