  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Stereojet

Hi. Looks great but why no Nikon D800 compatibility?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi Stereojet, it’s because Nikon does not have an AV-out port.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Tineke

    Hi, I’m from the Netherlands.
What’s the compatibility (video) for the Nikon D3S?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

GWII-N2 is the model for the D3S. See the compatibility section here: http://www.aputure.com/en/product/gigitube_wireless_digital_viewfinder.php

  • http://www.foto-artika.nl Tineke

Can I use the GWII-N2 on both the D3s as well as the Nikon D700 or do I need another cable. And if so where can i find the cable fot the D700

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

D700 will require a different cable, that found in model # GWII-N1.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Tineke

    I bought the GWII-N2 .
Where can I buy or find only the cable that fits the D700, because I don’t want to buy THE complete GWII-N1

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi Tineke, you can sometimes find these cables for sale on Amazon. I’ll check and see if anything is available where you are. Netherlands, right?

  • Tineke

    Yes, it’s the Netherlands

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Lee

What about link delight.com? I’ve purchased an extra cable for my GWI from there.

not troo the code into your site (Gigtube wireless II AVR-C1-2). thanks.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

    Hello Filippo,

Not really sure that I understand your question, but C1 is the one for the Canon 50D. C2 is for the 5D Mark II.

    Cheers.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Lee Jinks

I’m trying to follow this thread and I understand GWII = Gigtube Wireless II, but what is AVR?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hey Lee & Filippo, AVR is the code for the different cables. I’ve uploaded a chart showing all the cables here: http://www.aputure.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/GWII-cable-chart.jpg

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Brian

I have a Canon 550D(T2i). My USB A/V out socket on the camera is the same size as the USB input connection on the transmitter. I don’t find a cable for this. It’s basically “mini USB” to “mini USB”. Am I missing a cable?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

The mini-USB port on the transmitter is for charging. There should be another 1/8″ to remote shutter/AV-Out cable for connecting your camera to the transmitter. Find it?

  • Brian

Thanks for getting back to me. I see what you mean about the ‘mini’ being for the charging. But I didn’t see a cable that has the needed connections. That one didn’t make it in the box I guess. But I know what cable I need now and I thank you. I’m sure I’ll be able to find one. Shouldn’t be a problem.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Brian

Well, I guess I lied. About finding the cable. Just to make sure…I need a Male 3.5mm(1/8″) on one end and a Male micro-USB on the other. Not finding this anywhere. Help. Thanks

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Wasn’t in the box? That’s strange. Did you buy the appropriate model for your camera? If so, the cable should be included. You can see the cable chart here: http://www.aputure.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/GWII-cable-chart.jpg

  • Brian

Apparently I did get the wrong model but the ad told me I was getting the right one. This is what I read on the Amazon site(I copied and pasted this directly from the site so I wouldn’t type it in wrong): “Aputure Gigtube Wireless GW1C Live View Angle Finder with Shutter Cable Release for Canon EOS 600D (T3i, T4, T4i), 60D, 550D, 500D, 1000D, 450D, xs, xsi, t1i, and t2i.” This is why I bought it. This clearly says it is compatible with my camera. But I guess it is not. I will see if I can send it back and try to get the correct model. Thanks for all your trouble.

  • Dave

Are planning to release the module with android app or iphone app so we can use our phone instead of the lcd.

  • The A-Team

Brian: Good luck getting an exchange. Let us know how it goes…

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

    No plans right now…

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Brian

About the exchange…The ‘seller’ on Amazon said the only thing I would need is that cable I mentioned. They said everything else would be fine even though it is a different model Gig. They said the unit would work with my camera if I had that cable. They are sending the cable. I guess we’ll see if they’re right. On the box it does list some of the cameras that are compatible with this model. It does NOT however list the Canon 550D. But they said it was still compatible anyway. ???? “If the cable is included in the box, then it will work. Don’t include the cable, it is no longer compatible. Sounds kinda strange. I just don’t see how the model name/number of the actual unit would be based upon if a certain cable is dropped in the box. Heck, just drop that cable in all of the models and my camera is suddenly compatible with all of them! Like I said, we’ll see.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Brian

That cable problem I had with my canon 550D, the company that I bought the GWII-C1 from, sent the specific cable I needed. It worked! I didn’t have to exchange my unit after all. They sent it with no problem. Now, if they would just update their website and actually correctly list the models that are compatible maybe this won’t happen to someone else. They are actually a ‘seller’ on Amazon. So they basically have an Amazon Store. But, like I said before, their descriptions do not match the product at all.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog george

Where can I purchase one in the USA and what is the range for video control? Looking to use these for wedding videography

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi George, first check with your local dealer. If they don’t have one, check on Amazon, eBay, linkdelight.com. Good luck and let us know how it goes…

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog RedViper

Bought me the GWII-N1 set because i was told by the seller that it would fit my D800. Tried at home and true enough, no fitting for the D800 cos it does not have any av out. Sent back to seller and still he insisted that it is the correct model. The next time I would throw the damn thing on his face! Is the D800 supported as written in one of the documentations that came with the thing?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog The A-Team

Hi Red, sorry to hear about this. What is the document you are referring to? We’ve never claimed that it’s compatible with the D800. Please take it up with your dealer again, and give us their contact info if possible.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog/feed/ The A-Team

Yes Julian, it’s a matter of cable choice – you’ll need two different cables. Since the 50D doesn’t have video, you can use the built-in minicam of the GWII.

No, this product only works with Canon, Nikon, and Olympus. Sorry!

Hi, wanted to know how long does the battery last on a single charge on both the wireless transmitter and the handheld device. Also, when shooting in Liveview mode, will the cameras LCD switch off, thus enhancing the battery life of the camera itself?

  • oyruud

Hi, I got the GW1N for Nikon d700,d300. Now I have a Nikon D90 camera. May the GW1N work for the d90 if I get the right cable, like the AVR-N2-2 in your cable chart?

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

Yes, thats correct, it will work if you get the appropriate cable.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

Officially, the battery life is 6 hours. But on the handheld device, much less, especially if you’re using live-view all the time. And yes, the LCD is switched off when shooting in live-view mode.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

It’s highly unlikely. The 5DII has a cable all for itself. It’s not confirmed yet, but its likely that the 700D will use the following model: AVR-C3-1

  • bielt

Hi, there is no way to match receiver and transmiter on my Gigtube wireless II. Actually, after the first time, now when I try to match the light on receiver does not flick anymore, just go from green to red. On receiver’s display power indicator for transmiter is empty, signal indicator marks 3 and signal intensity shows X, any idea? Thanks.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Disqus,
When the indicator led lights red, it says low battery power. This can also cause
    no signal match.

Plz charge the batteries and try to match the signal again. If anyelse in doubt,
    contact me whenever.

    Thanks

If u want to use it to start or stop video recording, u can prepare a compatible Canon camera, then order the approriate shutter cable and infared remote cable. I do hope this answer can help u.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

    Hi Alex,
Thank you for your nice patience. I just tried it and handle receiver has displayed the image in LV mode. U should switch on the live view on the camera and ensure every cable especially the AV cable is plugged tightly. And the handle receiver will display dim image while set it to LV mode too. I think it is possible that the image is too dark that you haven’t found the image displayed. Try adjusting regarding parameters on the camera.

I do hope it could help u. And if anyelse in doubt, communicate with the A-Team whenever.

I was trying a unit with the cables for a Nikon but I have a Canon 5DMkII. The transmitter sends the image from the unit camera in MINI mode but when I plug the A/V cable by itself (the remote part of it is for Nikon) I do not see the image that should come from my camera when in LV mode. I assume the A/V part of the twin cable should work for a Canon. Am I right? Thank you.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Aputure

Hi,the cable for Nikon and Canon is different, so you should use AVR-C2-1 cable to connect 5DII and wireless gigtube.

    Hi Chris,
Because the Nikon’s HDMI and AV out cannot work with the remote port at the same time, there’s no such equipment supporting remmote and output the video. This limited of Nikon makes Canon win in the field of video shooting.
