    Great job Kahl!!!

I just wanted to say I had a great time filming this video The Presage. Please vote for my film.!

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Nick

“The Presage” should not qualify. It’s longer than the allotted time given by the rules. Even without credits, it’s still longer than a minute.

  • http://kahlpayne.com Kahl Payne

Along with Troy, I had a great time making this film. Looking forward to future themed contests to follow! Thanks for all the support!

“The Presage” running time has been approved as acceptable by Aputure.

  • http://kahlpayne.com Kahl Payne

    Haters.

  • http://kahlpayne.com Kahl Payne

If the Presage is disqualified then Schadenfreude should be the winner because this is a “Video Contest” not open mic night lol

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Nick

Furthermore, screen time clearly begins at 00:08 and ends at 01:08.

What a great job on “The Presage”. A joint effort for all those involved in the making of this film! Their skills all contribute to the “End” result and reflects throughout the fine quality of the film. This team of Professional’s and their collaboration of fine Directing, Production, Editing and awesome acting skills make this film come alive! This Team has a great future ahead and I look forward to more -on the Big Screen that is!

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for voting! I had a great time making my video.

To Kahl Payne: The rules clearly state that the style of video is open to CREATIVE interpretation (including “open mic” lol). Thus, I chose to make “The Last Days”. However, I also make other types of shorts (you’re welcome to look at my Christmas Shoes music video found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qixTEsmGek and my Janjaweed documentary found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-U5BDLo4Ws). Also, Kahl, you did a great job as DP for The Presage :) .

To the makers of The Presage and Schadenfreude: You guys both did a fantastic job! I wish you guys luck in all your future endeavors.

We may be last but we are not the least. Give “Halcyon” a vote!

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Area Man

Uh, am I not getting something here? I don’t know anything about this contest or anyone in it, yet the video that’s significantly behind is the best one. I get the feeling this is more of a promotion/popularity contest, rather than a video contest.

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Max

    Whoo hoo! Go Halcyon!

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Vincent

‘That is the end’ : congrats for the atmosphere of your film. That is the best !

This whole contest seems like a farce! How come in youtube a video has only 325 views but 7306 votes? I heard from a geek friend of mine that most participants here are using a script to automatically cast votes. The organisers have to find a way to go around this mistake and find the real number of likes by real people. Otherwise it is just a farce. Hope it is genuine and some actions will be taken in this regard.

I’m wondering how it is possible that some video clips in this contest have a few hundred views on YouTube but still thousands of votes.

I’m not saying they are cheating but something is very odd. For example:

“the last days” has 360 youtube views and 7213 votes
“Presage” 584 youtube views and 5700 votes

How can you vote if you didn’t see the clip.

On the internet are a lot of scripts for automate voting and I really hope it is not the case here. But still there should be find an explanation, especially from aputure, it is about their credibility for future contests.

The only films that seems to have to right proportion of votes/views are:
“It’s still spinning” and “That is the end”

    réalisme et concision, bravo

  • http://www.aputure.com/blog Andrew

anybody else incredibly confuse at how in the hell “The Last Days” is in 1st place?

  • http://kahlpayne.com Kahl Payne

    Happy New Year :) !

I’d just like to assure everyone that the winners will not be based on internet votes alone, but also on the voting of the Aputure staff here in the office. Stay tuned for the winners. Cheers and Happy New Year!

Most of the films here have beautiful shots but not stories. Sorry guys,
but while I love your cinematographic work (The Presage, Schadenfreude) there is no story, no message or a very weak one.
    Nothing to extract from them.

These proves one more time the difference between a DP and a Director.

Halcyon has also beautiful shots and post, but I think a better story than The Presage and Schadenfreude. Something that there is still hope.

In my opinion the best one is It’s still spinning. I love it. Really. It has a story, clean shots, a great message and an optimistic feeling. And made in a very simple manner.

The Last Days has a good message but in a very bad package. The voice of the guy is distorted by the wind, and also not very ineligible. And also he is trying to say too many things.

“That is the end” has some beautiful shots but no story just a sequence of apocalyptic images. Very depressing and no difference between this short film and the news from television.

In my opinion in the first three should be “Halcyon”, “It’s still spinning” (my favorite), and “The Presage”.

Congratulations to everyone for the hard work,

    alex

I would like to explain “That is the end.” The film is inspired by the Mayan prophecy that says there will be a change in the human mind, not an Apocalypse, or the end of the world.
Today, humanity is about to end, because there is no future in the path of war, selfishness, loneliness and selfishness: the greatest enemy of mankind, is the man.
Humans are hateful towards their neighbor, but we are about to change … According to the Mayan … I hope!
    Happy new year!
