We have arrived and just finished our first full day at Photokina in Cologne, Germany. Despite being completely jetlagged, we’re gonna throw up a couple of photos for you to have a glimpse of the largest photography trade show in the world. There is plenty to keep you busy here. All the big brand names occupy vast amounts of space with plenty to see and do. We ran across a chance presentation by Joe McNally which was great, and plan to see several more over the course of the week. Anyways, here’s a few snaps from the show.
The new Canon 8-15L Fisheye felt really awesome. The markings for APS-C, APS-H, and full frame seems especially useful. However, the zoom ring was rather small and close to the body.
Our wholesale distributor friends from Photo Solution Germany are with us for the week helping out in the booth and offering discounts. Stop by and say hello, and click this image to see their website.
The new Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro lens was absolutely awesome, but I think my favorite picture wasn't taken with it, but taken of it.
These nice guys were checking out the Gigtube in action. They recommended we develop one for the Canon G Series, which I think is a pretty good idea.
Sony has one of the more interesting displays, with a little halfpipe ramp featuring skateboarders and BMX bikers, with a plethora of cameras available to shoot the action (in perfect bright lights, mind you, so all your shots are clear and sharp). More on the new SLT A33 & A55 later...
Mary from sales team sitting down with some potential new customers from Korea. We had a busy day in the booth, meeting with many old customers and many potential new ones.
Ian demonstrating use of the Magic Rig, an as of yet unreleased product still in development.
Come back for more tomorrow. We’ll be posting live updates every day until the end of the show!
