May Photo of the Month – Bluebells Moonlight

Happy Childrens Day!

Another month and another photo contest has come to a close. This one has a funny story.

The winning photo was actually not in the finals until the last second. It replaced one that we booted one photo out on account of Photoshop (although it was beautifully done) – we just don’t want any photos winning on account of their impeccable PS skills – but rather their photography skills.

And the winner demonstrated his skills with an impressive use of speedlites to illuminate the flowers. As described by the photographer, Lee Pelling:

“As there was no real sunlight today I decided to try something different so I mounted a speedlite 580 exii on a lightstand and attatched a Lee Filter Moonlight Blue colour gel to the front of it and set it to full power. Hidden behind tree and fired with Aputure Trigmaster Plus radio Triggers.”

He will get a new set of Trigmaster IIs to accompany his Plus units!
