Expand to Infinity

The INFINIMATs come in a range of sizes – 1x2, 1x4, 2x4, 4x4, 8x8, and 20x20 with more planned in the future – and can be used as a mat or as an inflatable. On smaller units the airbag can be stored attached to the mat and inflated or deflated quickly with the included air pump for fast and easy setup and breakdown. The INFINIMAT airbags provide a rigid shape for the mats, or they can be mounted to their frames and brackets, be draped or suspended. Multiple INFINIMATs can be configured together to create additional sizes and shapes, and the control boxes can power and operate multiple lights.

Double the Output

The INFINIMATs are higher wattage and brighter than other mats and inflatables of similar sizes. With their increased output the INFINIMATs are useful in a variety of production settings, even including daylight, making them a workhorse rather than a niche tool.

Rental-Grade Construction

The INFINIMATs are designed with the rental client in mind, with heavy-duty durable construction, a modular architecture for a variety of uses and easy repair, and IP65 weather rating.

Pixel Control at Scale

All INFINIMATs are RGBWW and are configured with 1x2 or 2x2 pixels. The INFINIMAT control boxes utilize dual dimming control systems. This allows them to fine tune dimming to extremely low levels before going dark while also maintaining accurate colors. This accurate dimming is available across all dimming curves.

FAQ

When will the INFINIMATs be available?

Aputure is putting the finishing touches on the INFINIMAT designs. We’ve been showing them to Gaffers and DPs around the world, taking in their input to create the best, more useful mat system in the industry. The INFINIMATs will begin shipping in Q2 of 2024.

Why an inflatable?

The INFINIMAT family is designed around a series of features all intended to increase the versatility and performance of the product over standard LED mats. One key feature is the use of airbags. The INFINMATs do not have to be used with the included airbags, and in fact they attach quickly with a simple Velcro flap. But the airbags provide unique benefits. The airbags provide structure to the mats, so in certain uses a frame can be eliminated and the INIFINIMAT suspended in position. The added structure also means that the INFINIMATs do not sag in the middle, which can be important as an overhead light and when using light control device grids.

But perhaps most importantly for many users, the airbags means that the INFINIMATs are fast. On smaller sizes the airbags can be stored mounted to their LED mats. Attach the air pump and the INFINIMAT deploys itself in just a few minutes. Clip on a frame and mount to a stand and the INFINIMAT is ready to shoot. The practical use of the INFINIMAT is faster, easier and more intuitive than other LED mat systems. And of course if a client ever needs to, the airbag can be pulled off and the mat used however they need. Aputure believes that the inflatable design of the INFINIMATs are an improvement, but we also provide options to users to adapt the tool for their needs.

Can you connect the INFINIMATs together?

The INFINIMATs are designed as a modular system. Both the 400w and 1600w Control Boxes can power multiple mats, which can then be adjusted individually or as a matching whole. All of the mats feature 1x2 or 2x2 pixels, each of which is field-replaceable in case of repair. The INFINIMATs can be arranged in various shapes and easily mounted together. The 20x20 is in fact a single airbag system with four 8x8 mats mounted to it, and other similar configurations are planned for the future.

What is the best way to rig the INFINIMATs?

All INFINIMATs up to the 8x8 size include a mounting frame or bracket. When used as an inflatable the airbag itself provides a rigid shape so that the light does not sag and can be easily positioned. Standard stands and rigging hardware can be used and there are reinforced grommets and other attachment points for hanging an INFINIMAT from above. Please note that due to its size and weight, the 20x20 requires a more heavy duty rigging structure for overhead suspension.

Can I fill them with helium and have them float to lighten the load?

The INFINIMATs were designed to be filled with air using Aputure’s provided air pumps. The seams, check-valves and other components have not been tested for use with helium.

Can I dim the INFINIMATs?

The INFINIMATs use a dual-driver dimming system. This allows the lights to dim to extremely low light levels before switching off while still maintaining color accuracy. This dimmer control system also allows for high frame rate photography without flicker.

Are the INFINIMATs difficult to use?

Not at all. The INFINIMAT Control Boxes use the same user-friendly interface as other Aputure lights. On smaller sizes the inflatable airbag can be stored attached to the mat, and inflation with the included rechargeable air pump takes less than two minutes. The air pump is also reversible for quick deflation at wrap. The INFINIMATs include quick-mounting frames and brackets. Setting up the smaller sized INFINIMATs can be easily done by a single person, while the size and weight of the 8x8 and 20x20 requires additional crew. Accessories such as the grid and skirt attach with industrial-grade Velcro and there are reinforced grommets and other tie-off points for safety attachments, frame mounting and overhead suspension.

Is the IP65 rating just for the mat or the inflatable?

The entire INFINIMAT family system is fully IP65 rated. That means the Control Boxes, the cables, the mats when used alone as well as when used with the airbags are all rated for use in adverse weather conditions.

Can I control the INFINIMATs using Sidus Link and other systems?

Yes! The INFINIMAT family all feature DMX, CRMX, ArtNet, sACN, ethernet and of course Sidus Link. The new Sidus Link Pro will soon add pixel control for the INFINIMATs as well.
